In Montana, where our rugged wilderness and outdoor lifestyle prevail, the cocktail scene reflects a love for bold flavors and locally-sourced spirits.
The Big Sky Buck is a common pick at our school., featuring Montana-distilled bourbon or rye whiskey mixed with ginger beer and a splash of huckleberry syrup, capturing the essence of the state's untamed landscape. Another favorite is the Yellowstone Twist, blending local gin with sage-infused honey syrup and a squeeze of fresh lemon, offering a taste of the region's flora.
The Glacier Gimlet is a prime example, combining handcrafted gin with a squeeze of lime and a splash of locally-produced Glacier ice water. Cities like Bozeman and Missoula contribute to the state's drinking scene, with bars often incorporating regional elements into their cocktails, such as using Flathead cherry bitters or garnishing with wild mint.
The state's unique drinking culture also aligns with its cowboy heritage, with some establishments offering variations of classic cocktails like the Montana Mule, a twist on the Moscow Mule with local vodka, ginger beer, and a dash of bison grass tincture for a touch of the wild west.
