Age Regulations of California

The minimum age for serving alcohol at California bar is 21. In public eating places staff may serve at 18.
California has higher age requirements than other states. We recommend starting training after the age of 21.

Bartending Laws and Regulations in California

In compliance with CA Assembly Bill 1221, bartenders, servers, and managers must obtain valid Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Training from an ABC-accredited license provider and pass an exam within 60 days of their hire date.
